| NEW ENGLAND: With Patriots QB Tom Brady's attempt to avoid serving a Deflategate suspension having been rejected by an appeals court in mid-July, QB Jimmy Garoppolo will be under center for the first four games of 2016. The offense isn't expected to change much, as the Pats have a ton of faith in their young backup. TE Martellus Bennett adds another dimension to New England's prolific passing game, but the defense will need to fill the pass-rushing void created by the off-season trade of DE Chandler Jones to Arizona. | | CAROLINA: Other then departed CB Josh Norman and retired DE Jared Allen, the gang's back together in Carolina for a run at a second straight NFC title. Carolina is talented on every part of the roster, including the defensive backfield after the team drafted three corners to help replace Norman. LB Luke Kuechly is a perennial candidate for NFL Defensive Player of the Year honors. The offense will continue to put up points as long as QB Cam Newton is under center. He keeps defenses honest on his own and RB Jonathan Stewart is also a dangerous weapon on the ground. |
