| COASTAL CAROLINA: Calling Coastal Carolina's 2017 campaign tumultuous would be an understatement. Former FCS Coach of the Year Joe Moglia missed the entire season with a lung infection, and four different quarterbacks took snaps behind an inexperienced offensive line. Given all that, plus a 1-6 record in one-possession games, it's easy to understand how a decently talented CCU team went 3-9. Expect improvement this year with some solid pieces returning'including Moglia'but not a crazy turnaround. | | S CAROLINA: The Gamecocks have been lapped by Clemson in the Palmetto State, but coach Will Muschamp has kept his team in the East conversation, and this year will be no different. On defense, South Carolina has all-conference talent'specifically defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw and linebacker T.J. Brunson'but lacks depth. The team's bona fide star on offense, wide receiver Deebo Samuel, returns from an injury-marred 2017 and can fluster defenses, giving QB Jake Bentley more options to exploit from the pocket. With eight offensive starters returning this season, South Carolina should continue to improve in a division that is making strides across the board. |
