| DETROIT: WR Calvin Johnson's retirement leaves a gaping hole that the Lions somehow seem to think can be filled by former Bengal WR Marvin Jones. It's going to take a career year from QB Matthew Stafford for this Lions team to be somewhat competitive this season. The offense will also need a lot from a rather uninspiring group of running backs. Incoming linemen OT Taylor Decker and G Geoff Schwartz help fortify the line while DE Ezekiel Ansah and CB Darius Slay are the lone standouts on a defense that has plenty of room for improvement. | | PITTSBURGH: With All-Pros C Maurkice Pouncey and RB Le'Veon Bell returning to the lineup from injury, Pittsburgh's offense could end up being the best in the NFL this season. Bell's suspended the first four games of this season, but that will give him time to get even healthier and the team does not lose much with DeAngelo Williams on the field in his place. Pair that with a defense featuring DEs Cameron Heyward and Stephon Tuitt'and several shiny new draft picks'and the Steelers appear, on paper, to be among the AFC's best. |
