| MARSHALL: Although Marshall lost Rakeem Cato and eight other starters, there is plenty of talent remaining to win another 10 games and play for the C-USA title. The Herd will need to severely cut its 80.3 penalty YPG (5th-most in nation), but there are enough upperclassmen leaders to curb these mistakes. Marshall has a great chance to carry a perfect 9-0 record into the final month of the season before it faces the top two East division challengers on the road, Middle Tennessee and Western Kentucky. | | W KENTUCKY: The Hilltoppers' offense is very effective under QB Brandon Doughty, as they were sixth-best in the nation on third-down conversions last year (51%). The big questions on this team all lie with defense, and this beleaguered Western Kentucky unit will certainly be tested in road games at Vanderbilt, Indiana, Rice and LSU. But the Hilltoppers have the good fortune of hosting both Marshall and Middle Tennessee, who are the only two other teams with a real chance to win the C-USA East division. |
