| APPALACHIAN ST: A year ago it was a tale of two halves for the Mountaineers, who were on of the nation's worst teams before turning things around and looking outright dominant in the second half of the season. If their triple option rushing attack picks up where it left off, they'll be as good as anyone in the conference. It's just a matter of the defense bending but not breaking often. With a favorable schedule that includes home games against Georgia Southern, Arkansas State and UL-Lafayette, holding court at home could lift them to a Sun Belt title. | | S ALABAMA: The Jaguars are the biggest wild card in the Sun Belt. Half of their offensive personnel, including QB Cody Clements and RB D.J. Vinson as well offensive coordinator Bryant Vincent, comes from UAB's now-defunct program. They brought in enough instant-impact talent to make a serious run at a conference title if everything clicks on offense. The defensive side of the ball is a whole other matter though. If the defense can bend but not break, and if the Jaguars can stay in contention until Thanksgiving, with Georgia Southern and Appalachian State to finish the regular season, they have a chance to steal the Sun Belt title. |
