| MICHIGAN ST: The departure of QB Connor Cook marks the end of an era for Michigan State, as the Spartans now turn to fifth-year senior QB Tyler O'Connor to replace the program's all-time leading passer. The focal point of the offense, however, is expected to be RB L.J. Scott, who rushed for 11 TDs as a freshman. The team's strength is its defense, as the unit was 11th in run defense last season and returns 10 of its top 12 contributors in the secondary. | | MARYLAND: New coach DJ Durkin hired three assistants who led FBS programs in 2015: Syracuse's Scott Shafer (defensive coordinator), Virginia's Mike London (defensive line) and Ball State's Pete Lembo (special teams/tight ends). |
